  • Thymic hypoplasia/aplasia

    • DiGeorge syndrome

      • Comes from maldevelopment of the 3rd and 4th pharyngeal pouches

      • May be accompanied with

        • Hypoparathyroidism – developmental failure

        • Immunosuppression – deficient CMI with poor defense against viruses and fungi

        • Cardiac and other malformations

    • SCIDS – deficient CMI and humoral immunities

  • Thymic cysts – incidental finding
