    • bronchospasm

    • bradycardia

    • worsening of heart failure

  • selective (metoprolol) or non-selective (propranolol) for β1 receptors

  • EP properties include

    • rate control: slow AV nodal conduction, so it’s useful in atrial fibrillation to decrease ventricular response rate

    • arrhythmia prevention: reduce mortality in patient post MI, partially because it suppresses arrhythmias
