- in the adult, might see bullus impetigo, which is impetigo + a couple of filled bullae on skin surface 
- 5% of S. aureus produce the hemolytic toxins ETA and ETB 
- these hemolysins target desmoglian in superficial epidermis and lead to their dissolution 
- there is sloughing of the skin and vesicles at the level of the stratum granulosum PDF 14 
Pathogenesis of staphylococcal scalded-skin syndrome
- if you inject an animal with anti-desmoglian antibodies, epidermis separates from dermis 
- if you inject the toxin, epidermis separates from the underlying dermis as well
