  • T4 replacement if TSH is in lower end of normal range

  • 6-8 months after initial surgery

    • RAI scan

    • thyroglobulin: thyrogen protocol

  • routine followup


Recombinant human TSH

  • 0.9 mg IM for 2 days

  • increase TSH as much as if a patient becomes hypothyroid


RTSH thyrogen

  • Tg scan on day 5

  • causes: papillary cancer: good prognosis

  • diagnosis: identification of thyroid nodule via palpation, ultraounds, FNA

  • treatment: attempt to remove all thyroid tissue: surgery, radioiodine; T4 replacement if TSH is suppressed or is in the lower part of normal

  • Followup protocol

    • thyroglobulin levels

    • RAI scan

    • TFTs: TSH low/normal
