remove palpable lymph nodes (central compartment)
no radial neck dissection

identify tissue by scanning dose (2-3 mCi)
high thyroglobulin level is sometimes an indication for treatment
treatment dose 100-200 mCi 131I
at least 6 months between treatments
Thyroxin replacement
T4 100-200 ug/day
keep TSH 0.3-1 uIU/ml
keep thyroglobulin below 0.5 ng/ml
Radiation therapy: bone metastasis, medullary CA, obstructive disease in neck
Chemotherapy: anaplastic CA, medullary CA
