chronic autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto disease) is T-cell mediated autoimmunity causing thyroid destruction
sometimes, Graves and Hashimoto disease can occur together, and this is termed hashitoxicosis
Graves is antibody-mediated disease
Hashimoto is T-cell-mediated disease
Hashimoto disease can occur in polyglandular autoimmune syndrome type 2
with this, patients also have hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus type I
Hashimoto encephalopathy: autommunity to CNS proteins: confusion, seizure, coma. brain biopsies are performed in this setting
