elevated interleukins
therapy
initial phase: antiinflammatory: aspirin, ibuprofen, prednisone
ipodate: inhibit T4 T3 conversion
hypothyroid phase: T4 replacement
usually transient, so you can slowly reduce the dose
Postpartum thyroiditis
second phase is particularly devastating
25% become permanently hypothyroid
