  • Between distal end of radius and the carpus.

  • Condyloid synovial joint allowing adduction, abduction, flexion, extension.

  • Blood supply: carpal arterial arches

  • Nerve supply: anterior interosseous branch of median nerve, posterior interosseous branch of radial nerve, dorsal and deep branches of ulnar nerve. Note: Hilton’s law = nerves that supply muscles acting on a joint usually send sensory fibres to it.

  • Colles’ fracture

    • Involves distal end of radius. Most common fracture in over 50’s.

    • Fall on outstretched hand with forearm pronated producing dinner fork deformity.
