Between distal end of radius and the carpus.
Condyloid synovial joint allowing adduction, abduction, flexion, extension.
Blood supply: carpal arterial arches
Nerve supply: anterior interosseous branch of median nerve, posterior interosseous branch of radial nerve, dorsal and deep branches of ulnar nerve. Note: Hilton’s law = nerves that supply muscles acting on a joint usually send sensory fibres to it.
Colles’ fracture
Involves distal end of radius. Most common fracture in over 50’s.
Fall on outstretched hand with forearm pronated producing dinner fork deformity.
