The Axillary Artery

  • First part enclosed in axillary sheath, with axillary vein and brachial plexus. It has only one branch, the superior thoracic artery which supplies first and second intercostals muscles.

  • Second part lies deep to pec minor. Its branches are the Thoracoacromial artery, lateral thoracic artery.

  • Third part extends from inferior boarder of pec minor to inferior boarder of teres major muscle. Its branches are subscapular artery, anterior circumflex humeral artery and posterior circumflex humeral artery.

  • Then becomes the brachial artery
