AETIOLOGY - rare isolated; usually associated with pulmonary hipertension caused by left heart valvular disease (e.g. aortic regurgitation - Graham Steel murmur), pulmonary disease, or Eisenmenger's syndrome
The murmur of PR - high pitched, early diastolic, decrescendo in character, and heard best at the second left intercostal space
