on 2.12.07 with 0 comments

This is when patients have autoantibodies against hepatocyte nuclei, smooth muscle cytoskeletal elements (actin filaments esp.), mitochondria. This is categories on the basis of these autoantibodies and also if no viruses are detected upon serology. In up to 60% of patients, other types of autoimmune diseases such as: RA, thyroditis, ulcerative colitis are present. Responds well to immunosuppressive therapy.
