CEREBRAL CORTEX

Higher functions: judgment, memory, fine voluntary movements, fine pain, tactile discrimination and temperature
Special senses: Vision, smell, hearing.
Important coordinator and exerts inhibitory control over lower centers

FRONTAL LOBES
Thinking, integration of emotional behavior

LIMBIC SYSTEM
Integrates emotional state with motor and visceral activities

BASAL GANGLIA
Extrapyramidal control of skeletal muscle tone, Coordination of posture, Lesions produce tremors and rigidity in flexion

THALAMUS
Relay centre for sensory pathways to cortex. Conscious appreciation of pain, temperature and crude touch sensations, Exerts regulatory control over visceral functions

Hypothalamus
Autonomic control, Controls Adenohypophysis, Integration of eating, drinking, Sex, temperature, sleep, circadian rhythm and other vegetative function

Cerebellum
Vestibular function ,Body posture, Reticular formation, Sleep wakefulness cycle, BP, Respiration, Swallowing, Vomiting, Transmission of crude pain, Voluntary muscle tone and posture, upper motor control

Spinal cord
Reflex movements, Muscle tone (Red muscles), Upper and lower motor neurons through presynaptic and post synaptic inhibition
