Symptoms associated with hypothyroidism include:
Myxedema (a marked decrease in thyroid hormone with noticeable lethargy, coma must be treated as a medical emergency).
Iodine-rich medications induced hypothyroidism
Nontoxic colloid goiters
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (goiter)
Menorrhagia in hypothyroid pts
Unproven uses: fatigue syndromes; obesity in euthyroid (normal thyroid levels) pts; premenstrual syndrome; severe systemic illness in euthyroid pts; alopecia (baldness); nontoxic nodular goiters in the elderly.
