Sinus bradycardia

  • quick and dirty way to tell heart rate: count big boxes between QRS. one box means 300, two boxes means 150, and so on for 100, 75, 60, 50

  • this tells us that the rate is around 50 bpm

  • etiology

    • hypothyroidism

    • hypothermia

    • idiopathic fibrosis

  • sx

    • fatigue

    • dyspnea

    • syncope

    • near syncope

  • diagnosis

    • ECG/rhythm strip

    • if this occurs during exercise, then a treadmill test

  • rx

    • acutely, atropine, β1 agonists, theophylline

    • long-term: pacemaker
