happens when the heart gets scarred—a shell around the heart
compression does not occur until the point in the cardiac cycle when the cardiac volume approximates that of pericardium. that means the early part of filling is normal. this is not true in cardiac tamponade
in other words, the filling waves are very steep and early—ventricles fill rapidly in diastole
