- Caused by Mycobacterium Leprae
Types:
- Lepromatous Leprosy (LL): Cell mediated immunity is low; Leonine Facies
- Tuberculoid Leprosy (TT): Cell mediated immunity is intact; peripheral nerves affected; few leprae bacilli and lesions
- Indeterminate
- Borderline ( BT and BL): Unstable; low immunity
Clinically
- Multibacillary Leprosy : LL,BB and BL
- Paucibacillary Leprosy: TT,BT and indeterminate
