10-14 % of patients with GS have duct stones.
Duct stones are responsible for:
Obstructive Jaundice:
Jaundice, dark urine, pale stool, pririts.
alk phos with min ALT
bilirubin
USS = dilated bile ducts.
ERCP and cholecystectomy in future.
Acute Cholangitis:
Organsims enter biliary tract via duodenum or blood via liver.
Western world = ductal stones and bacteria eg E.coli
Pacific rim = parasites: liver flukes and ascariasis.
In not treated fatal.
