V parahaemolyticus : acute gastroenteritis by contaminated seafood (raw fish or shellfish) 》subside spontaneously in 1-4 days with no treatment

V vulnificus : severe wound infections, bacteremia & probably gastroenteritis

  • Apt to be found in oysters, especially in warm months
  • Bacteremia with no focus of infection by infected oysters and with alcoholism or liver disease Infection often proceeds rapidly (50% of mortality rate).
  • Tetracycline, or ciprofloxacin
