Ondansetron (Zofran)

Very effective, largely developed to give chemotherapeutics a way to manage nausea associated with chemotherapy. May be Rx’d for pts who are refractory to or have severe adverse rxns to std antiemetic tx. Ondansetron may be rx’d for young pts(<45yo who are more likely to develop extrapyramidal rxns to high-dose metoclopramide) who are to receive h ighly emetogenic chemotherapeutic agents.
