| MAECT (500 l) | 6 trypanosomes/ml (extreme; in reality usually 100/ml required) |
| PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) | 10 trypanosomes/ml (to be confirmed) |
| KIVI | 1 trypanosome per 5 ml. |
