What makes an organism an anaerobe?

on 7.9.08 with 0 comments

  • all anaerobes are able to ferment

  • they can obtain energy from fermentation or a combination of fermentation or anaerobic respiration

  • why can’t anaerobes grow in the presence of oxygen? anaerobes cannot remove toxic metabolites of oxygen, including, primarily, superoxide
