1. Optical density of 0 is perfectly clear, with all light intensity being transferred to the other side.
2. Optical density of approx. 4 will allow 1 in 10,000 photons to get through.
3. Straight line portion of the H/D curve is the usable latitude of the film.
4. These curves are sigmoid and are a graph of the density of film relative to the log of exposure. Basically gets you a film speed range.
5. Fast film has a high contrast with less gray, slow film has low contrast and lots of gray.
