Function of proteins

• Collagen, Actin, Myosin  structural proteins

• Albumin, globulins (involved in carrying vitamins both fat and water soluble, carry hormones and anti bodies)

• Acid-base  buffers are, hemoglobin, in blood

• Hormones  Thyroid (tyrosine), insulin

• Immune function  immunoglobins

• Glucose formation (especially in starvation mode)

• Energy  do not supply the body with much energy unless there is an extreme situation (very costly source of energy)
