1. Gamma camera consists of:

  • Collimator
  • Sodium Iodide crystal
  • Photo multiplier tubes
  • Peak height analyzer
  • Cathode ray tube monitor

2. Sodium Iodide crystals convert gamma rays to light.

3. 3 phases: Flow, Blood, Static bone.

4. Flow phase is 1st minute following the injection.

5. Blood pool phase is 1-3 minutes following injection.

6. Static bone phase is 2-4 hours post injection.

7. The accumulation of radionuclide decreases with age.

8. There are, however, certain sites with a continuous uptake regardless of age:

1. Acromion

2. Medial ends of clavicles

3. Angle of Louis

4. Sacral Ala
