Proximal radioulnar joint (see above) – Subluxation of the head of the radius (pulled elbow/ nursemaids elbow) in preschool kids. Caused by sudden pulling of upper limb which tears the distal attachment of the annular ligament. Nerve supply from musculocutaneous, median and radial nerves.
Distal radioulnar joint – synovial pivot joint. Radius moves around the fixed inferior end of the ulna. The articular disc binds the ends of the ulna and radius together and is the main uniting structure of the joint. Allows pronation and supination of forearm and hand. Nerve supply from anterior and posterior interosseous nerves.
