HMG-CoA Reductase inhibitors (statins): increase serum transaminase; produce some increase in creatine phosphokinase and GI distress; risk of rhabdomyolysis
Resins: lead to bolating and constipation; produce unwanted removal of chloride ions, dietary components, and drugs
Probucol: causes GI distress; prolongs Q-T interval
Clofibrate: produces cholelithiasis; possibly carries a carcinoma risk
Gemfibrozil: possibly produces same problems as clofibrate; interacts with oral anticoagulants
Niacin: may exacerbate cardiac dysrhythmias, gout, gallbladder disease, and liver disease; causes GI distress and intense flushing and pruritis
