Diagnosis
Clinical suspicion. Bacterial culture of the exudates may be helpful.
Pathology
Infection, usually by Staph aureus, of a hair follicle.
Principles of Therapy
Antibacterial soap, antibiotics topical (mupirocin, clindamycin) or systemic (dicloxacillin, cephalexin, erythromycin). PRN I&D. Warm compresses.Category: Dermatology Notes
